During this time of exciting transformation, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for you to join our fantastic team at the recently refurbishedKingswood Centre. We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic RMN or RNLD to provide an inpatient, community based service to adults with a learning disability who also have mental health problems and/or challenging needs. You will be joining an AIMS accredited(Accreditationfor Inpatient Mental Health Services) team that is committed to working at the highest standards of clinical practice and who seek to continually improve on this through engaging in regular Quality Improvement projects.

Main duties of the job
Working as a member of our LD-dedicated multidisciplinary team you will contribute to the care planning and risk management of our service users who may be detained under the Mental Health Act and work intensively with them and their carers, relatives and day service providers.
You would be joining us at an incredibly exciting time as our Learning Disability Services goes through a transformation process aimed at further developing our services and work force. The LD service will soon be implementing LD Nurse Consultants within the teams and together with our extensive training opportunities for our Nursing staff we believe this demonstrates are ongoing commitment to developing our LD staff.

The service also takes part in CNWL's highly successful Rotation and Development (RAD) Programme, allowing Nurses to rotate in 3 different LD services across both inpatient and community services over an 18-month period. We really are committed to staff development!

Our service is a short 10-minute walk from both Queensbury and Kingsbury station, both of which are situated on the Jubilee Line. The local area does also provide free parking for those who drive anda number of buses also run directly to the hospital site.
The area is a short distance away from the vibrancy thatcentral London offers but with the choice of the peaceful tranquillity of the green parks of Harrow.

Summary of duties and Clinical Responsibilities:
To act as named nurse/care co-ordinator to appointed service users To delegate and monitor support workers tasks undertaken at your direction. To ensure that support workers receive skill training from both yourself and other agencies, which are commensurate with both the grade at which they operate and the work expected of them To ensure that the care plans reflect accurately the direction given by the clinical team. To be able to give account of the effectiveness of care plans at clinical and multi disciplinary team meetings. To ensure that the Mental Health Act is administered accurately in respect of detained patients. This includes arranging MHA83 Section 117/CPA meetings as required. To be responsible for own professional clinical management updating needs and advising unit manager accordingly. To always act within NMC guidelines and regulations and, in doing so, to advise the manager(s) of situations/practices which could be in breach of the same. To ensure that both the NMC guidelines and local procedures in respect of drugs and other substances which may be noxious or harmful to health are adhered to. To ensure that the Patients Charter and Valuing People are adhered to To undertake full training in Physical Intervention (General Services Association) techniques and maintain such skills through regular practice sessions and refresher updating courses To be able to use Physical Interventions within the agreed policy and as laid down in the care plan following appropriate assessment To reflect a commitment to student nurses allocated to the units To be involved in outreach services as required To provide support and skill training to family members and other carers as required. - Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983
- Able to lead and manage shifts without direct supervision
- Able to delegate responsibilities to junior staff
- Effective communication skills
- Able to participate in physical Intervention techniques
- Ability to organize and chair clinical team meetings/CPA/Section 117 meetings
- Significant experience working with people with dual diagnosis of learning disabilities and mental illness/ challenging behaviour needs.

- ENB 998/N30/N47 Diploma in Challenging Behaviour/ any other relevant courses
- Experience of using Microsoft office Professional
