We are looking for 2 enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Mental Health Nurses to join our Community Mental Health Team.

This is an exciting opportunity as this is a development post from Band 5 to Band 6 after a minimum of 12 months. This is subject to completing the necessary reviews and appraisal in order to meet the job specification of a band 6.

We are looking for individuals who are motived to support the development and delivery of Community Mental Health services across the team's footprint. The Birkenhead CMHT work with working age adults aged 18 and over and older adults with both functional and organic illnesses.

Please not that due to the geographical footprint a full UK driving licence and access to a car for work is essential for this post

Main duties of the job

  • Manage individual casework in the most efficient manner possible, whilst maintaining the highest standards of care.
  • To manage a defined caseload.
  • Maintain recording systems in line with trust standards.
  • Delivering professional standards of care to the very highest using evidence based practice.
  • Assisting medical staff, and members of the primary care team, voluntary agencies and other professionals, to meet the needs of the people of East locality.
  • Participate in team meetings and review client care and needs with a senior members of the community mental health team,.
  • Interpreting Trust and National Health Service policies for clients and family and professionals as required.
  • Ensuring that all communications with colleagues, clients and families are clearly understood, giving written confirmation of verbal communications where there is observed to be a need.
  • Promote the recovery agenda with service users.
  • Taking responsibility for maintaining and advancing own professional knowledge and keeping abreast with current developments.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Core professional qualification (e.g., RMN, CQSW, OT)
  • Degree or equivalent level qualification
  • Evidence of continuing professional development


Desirable

  • Training in Exposure & Response Prevention and Anxiety Management Techniques
  • Knowledge of/expertise in other therapeutic models
  • Mentor qualification
  • Evidence of using Microsoft Software


Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

  • Working knowledge of legislation and policy relevant to a Mental Health setting (e.g: Mental Health Act, NSF)
  • Skills in the assessment of risk and deliberate selfharm
  • Experience of implementing significant changes in working practices
  • Experience of monitoring standards of care
  • Experience of providing supervision
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Working knowledge of a wide range of mental health conditions


Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 3 year's experience in a relevant Mental Health setting
  • Experience of providing clinical supervision and training of clinical and/or support staff
  • Specialist knowledge relevant to service
  • Working knowledge of all relevant legislation
  • Evidence of undertaking audit work


Desirable

  • Experience of providing Mental Health interventions in home and community settings
  • Evidence of participation on research/audit
