This is an exciting opportunity for dynamic and self-motivated individuals to work for Talking Therapies (Improving Access to Psychological Therapy/ IAPT) Service.

The Talking Therapies service has dedicated teams of Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs), Cognitive Behavioural Therapists and Counsellors who offer a range of support to help people make positive changes to reduce stress and anxiety and improve their wellbeing.

An opportunity exists for a suitably qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, who ispassionate about providing meaningful and effective therapeutic experiences to address common mental health problems, to join the Chorley and South RibbleTalking Therapies team. Chorley and South Ribble is a beautiful part of the UK and has lots to offer in terms of activities, stunning scenery and community.

Applicants who have not completed their training as a CBT therapist will not be considered. Applicants need to be BABCP fully accredited.

Main duties of the job

Our CBT Therapists offer accessible screening, assessment and treatment for mild to moderate mental health problems, giving service users a greater degree of choice and flexibility by providing an extensive menu of therapies including psycho-education courses, 1:1 therapy, and group and computerised CBT programs.

You will have a proven track record of delivering high quality service outcomes against robust performance measures and have excellent interpersonal qualities time management skills an ability to work autonomously and an enthusiasm for working in an ever-developing IAPT environment.

Talking Therapies is an innovative and forward thinking service. We provide rapid accessible mental health screening, assessment and treatment whilst enabling people accessing the service to have a collaborative role in the choice of intervention they receive.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Formally recognised Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Post Graduate (Master's Level) diploma
  • Provisional CBT Accreditation with BABCP
  • Professional qualification in health or social care, e.g. RMN or Social Worker OR KSA equivalence


Knowledge

Essential

  • Highly developed specialist knowledge of the theory and practice of cognitive behaviour therapy.
  • Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
  • Knowledge of the NHS Talking Therapies (formerly IAPT) model and a willingness to develop the service clinically.


Experience

Essential

  • A broad range of experience of working with a wide variety of clients that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
  • Significant experience of delivering specialist Cognitive Behaviour Therapy assessment and treatment of clients in Adult Mental Health, and managing own clinical caseload of therapy clients safely and effectively
  • Experience of managing risk and safeguarding concerns according to relevant policies


Skills

Essential

  • Ability to sustain intense levels of concentration responding and participating as required.
  • Ability to self-reflect and use clinical supervision appropriately.
  • Ability to cope and deal with highly distressing emotional circumstances.
