This role is the perfect entry point to administration in the NHS. As a Sexual Health Service Apprentice, the successful candidate will complete a fully funded Business Administration Level 3 qualification alongside their role in the department. They will develop the skills to work in an office providing a wide range of administration services to all service staff and support the delivery of the sexual health appointment booking service to patients across County Durham and Darlington .

Due to the nature of the roll, this post is only open to candidates aged 18 and over.

Main duties of the job

The Sexual Health Admin Apprentice will:

- Support the Central Admin Team in delivering a central appointment booking service to patients and the general public across County Durham & Darlington and the provision of a range of administrative support to the Admin Team Leader and all staff within the Contraception and Sexual Health Service

- Support the Central Admin Team is being the first point of contact for service staff, other internal staff and stakeholders within and outside of the organisation, responding to enquiries via telephone and email and taking appropriate timely action

- Receive and respond to internal and external correspondence taking appropriate timely action as required, in accordance with Trust and/or departmental standard operating procedures

- Undertake typing and distribution of confidential correspondence within Trust and departmental timescales

- Collate, formulate and enter data onto necessary databases/spreadsheets according to service requirements

- Organise meetings, prepare, collate and issue papers and attend for taking nottes

- Provide frontline cover at GU/CASH clinics as required

- Complete Level 3 Business Admin Apprenticeship

The post holder will liaise with:

The Admin Team Leader to ensure that day to day expectations of the role are fulfilled and any potential issues are escalated.

The wider central admin teams to ensure that day to day expectations of the role are fulfilled.

Patients and the general public to ensure delivery of a central appointment booking service.

Clinic staff to support delivery of an accurate, efficient administration service.

The wider Sexual Health Team, other internal and external stakeholders to ensure the delivery of a contraception and sexual health service to patients and the general public across County Durham & Darlington.

Person Specification

Special Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • PC and Keyboard skills
  • Knowledge of computer packages: Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams and Powerpoint
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organisation and time management
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work indepdenently on assigned tasks


Desirable

  • Self-motivated with a desire to make continuous improvements


Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE or equivalent Maths and English at grade 4/C or above or a commitment to complete Level 2 Maths and English during the course of the apprenticeship.


Experience

Desirable

  • Experience working in an administrative or training role.


Special Requirements

Essential

  • Desire to complete a Level 3 Business Administration qualification as part of this role
  • Ability to travel independently to other venues for frontline clinic cover
