An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to contribute towards excellent patient care within Dermatology Outpatient Services at UHCW.

The successful candidate will work alongside the manager in ensuring that the Trust provides high quality patient focused care within Dermatology outpatient department, providing advice and support to patients, their families and health care professionals using best evidence-based practice.

This will include supporting and manging a team of nurses, playing key role in development of nurse led services and support with all developments in clinics.

Working in collaboration with other healthcare professionals you will provide clinically excellent care and ensure Dermatology services is integrated to provide best practise.

A highly motivated person with excellent leadership and managerial skills and proven ability to lead a team will be required to fill this position. We require an enthusiastic, innovative person with excellent communication skills. The ability to integrate into a team and as part of a multidisciplinary team is essential with the ability to motivate on all levels.

Main duties of the job

A skilled practitioner, providing leadership and management support, developing, improving, and evaluating best practice within the department. The post-holder will deputise for the department manager as required within the department and across the Trust. The post-holder will support the management of clinical and operational issues relating to Dermatology services.

Dermatology experience will be desirable.

Job responsibilities

  • Accountable for own actions in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Council, Code of Professional Conduct. Will contribute to corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies always.
  • Effectively communicate information regarding clinical decisions, policy and care pathways to patients/carers and the multi-professional team.
  • A skilled practitioner and clinical leader providing support to the management team, participating in service/policy development. The post holder will deputise in the absence of the clinic manager and will be responsible for the management of the team in their absence.
  • Support the management of clinical and operational processes within the Dermatology department, liaising with members of the Multidisciplinary Teams of all groups involved e.g., Skin oncology, clinical photography, and pathology, vascular lag, and wards. Identifying areas of service improvement and implementing improvements with the team using UHCWi methodology. Leading the service as an autonomous practitioner, providing a high standard of care to the patient group.
  • Responsible for clinical assessment of a group of patients in, ensuring appropriate care is planned, implemented, and evaluated/audited. Ensuring patient information is up to date and acting as patient advocate where necessary.
  • Organisation of and participation in cross-departmental/organisational activities including HR, sickness management, resourcing, and bleep-holder responsibilities as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate highly technical and/or practical clinical skills, to ensure optimum patient management including complex patient monitoring, wound management, medicines management, safeguarding procedures, and equipment maintenance - acting as a resource and role model for junior staff
