This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a specialist team providing vascular access to the trust. You will be responsible for providing a high quality holistic service for patients who require Vascular Access, Trust wide.

Job responsibilities
Communication and working relationships Develops and maintains effective communication links with immediate team, AHP, other departments within the Trust and the community Promote and maintain positive and effective links of communication with patients, their carers and visitors to the trust. Actively participate and deliver education (to groups, individuals etc) when requested. Contribute constructive opinions and encourage others to contribute constructive opinions, in relation to issues relating to service or staff working conditions. Ensuring an appropriate response is sought and action taken where indicated.
Planning and organisation Co-ordinate shifts and allocate resource. Prioritise workload, balancing elective lists with urgent referrals.
Responsibility and accountability Undertake all nursing procedures in accordance with Trust policies and ensure that these procedures and policies are understood and adhered to by all staff within own management responsibility. Ensure safe and appropriate practice in line with Trust policy and NMC guidelines. Make medical decisions, within scope of competence, in the absence of a doctor in relation to the patients physical and psychological status and act accordingly. Provide guidance to junior medical staff on vascular access related issues with the support of service lead.
Policy and service development No direct responsibility can assist service lead if desired.
Responsibility for finance, equipment and other resources No direct budget responsibility, but to maintain an awareness of the efficient and effective use of resources and to develop an awareness of financial strategies and frameworks.
Responsibility for supervision, leadership and management Act as an appropriate and effective role model at all times Act as an effective mentor, enabling and supporting staff in performing this role Act as a resource, supporting and motivating staff members Be aware of, support and participate in local and Trust initiatives and change processes. Manage staff sickness, performance and rotas with the help of service lead.
Information technology and administrative duties Maintain high standards of documentation and electronic records. Maintain and manage off duty.

Main duties of the job
- Provide vascular access services to the trust.
- Promote high standards of patient care. Utilise specialist knowledge and skills in the provision of vascular access.
- Provide nursing leadership and effectively manage and support staff.
- Reduce clinical risk to patients with CVCs in non-specialist areas within the Trust, provide telephone support and advice to patients and healthcare professionals.
- Participate in educating staff in the care and management of CVCs.
- Co-ordinate and prioritise the provision of care.
- Act with professionalism and integrity.
- Provide a service that is tailored to meet the needs of the individual, to understand what our patients need and be adaptable and responsive.
- Work as part of a team demonstrating effective communication and working collaboratively with colleagues inside and out of the department.
- Be curious and creative about new possibilities, whilst identifying what works well and to do more of it.

- Degree level registered nurse working at band 6 level
- Competent at cannulating
- Experience in CVADs
- Evidence of continual professional development
- Good IT skills
- Experience in leading a team
- Experience in surgical level aseptic procedures
- Good communication skills

- IRMER trained
- CXR interpretation
- PICC insertion experience
- Vascular ultrasound experience
