An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, highly motivated and enthusiastic midwife to work within the coordinator leadership team on a fixed term basis. As a delivery suite coordinator you will work in partnership with other band 7 coordinators and matrons for Complex Midwifery Care and Midwife led care, delivering a high standard of care that is evidence based and meets local and national guidelines. You will work closely with obstetric colleagues and members of the maternity team delivering a quality service to meet the needs of women with complex needs.
You will be located on the Delivery Suite providing leadership, guidance, support and advice to other members of the team, over a 24 hour period.
This post is a permanent position.
Main duties of the job
In this role you will be expected to demonstrate strong clinical and leadership skills . You will work closely with the ward managers and the existing Band 7 coordinators, to ensure that the Maternity Unit is operationally safe, effective and well led.
You must be able to demonstrate that you have sound clinical knowledge base, expertise and a passion for promoting normality within the complex care setting. We are looking for someone who understands the role of managing a shift and can delegate and lead the demands of the wider maternity service.
You will demonstrate a high level of communication and organisational skills and work both under pressure and as part of a high performing clinical multi professional team.

You will be a key member of the multidisciplinary team ensuring that there are good lines of communication between hospital and community based teams. You will be working closely with the Consultant Midwife driving the agenda for normality and with the support of the team of Specialist Midwives you will ensure that a consistent and safe service is delivered that meets the needs of the women and families in our care.
Acknowledging the increasing proportion of women requiring consultant led care. The team are all committed to collaborative working between women, obstetricians and midwives. We are continuously working to improve the Delivery Suite in order to enhance the environment for women with complex needs.
Working in partnership as a member of the Senior Midwifery Team the successful applicant will help to drive forward and deliver the Better Births vision of Continuity of Carer for all women. This is an ideal opportunity for career progression and to develop your leadership skills.
