Are you an excellent communicator who enjoys working with people? We are looking for an Engagement Support Officer to join the Strategic Planning and Equalities team. This is a varied and busy role which combines communication and engagement activities with administrative duties to support our Trust's strategic priorities.

You will have the opportunity to work with service users, carers, community members and staff on the Patientand Carer Race Equality Framework (PCREF) programme and other projects. We are looking for someone with experience of designing engaging content in different formats, as well as strong administrative experience and the ability to work effectively in a busy environment.

Main duties of the job

Engagement duties
  • Act as the first point of contact for all enquiries relating to the Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework (PCREF).
  • Build relationships with community members, patients, carers and colleagues and support them to participate in engagement activities
  • Design and support delivery of engagement events and promotional campaigns for staff groups, community members and service users and carers

Website/intranet/digital and social media communication
  • Manage internal communications and engagement for agreed programmes
  • Design programme content that is exciting, relevant and engaging for all stakeholders and audiences, such as posters, leaflets and videos

Administrative duties
  • Monitor and respond to email and other digital enquiries
  • Support the administration of meetings including taking minutes and maintaining associated records for a variety of workstreams, e.g. attendees lists, feedback and action logs
  • Develop and maintain mailing lists with accuracy and in line with data protection requirements

Job responsibilities

The Engagement Support Officer plays an important role in supporting the Strategic Planning and Equalities team in the delivery of the Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework (PCREF) programme and other key strategic priorities. PCREF is a key strategic priority for the Trust and embedding it at scale is a key commitment made by the Trusts five-year strategy.

The Trust Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework (PCREF) is a new programme of work to develop an approach that seeks to improve the access, experience and outcomes of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities accessing mental health support at the Trust.

This post holder will work closely with colleagues across the Trust from various professional backgrounds and with service users, carers and diverse communities in Lambeth, Southwark, Croydon and Lewisham. They will be responsible for supporting the PCREF programmes Communications and Engagement workstream and the engagement to support the co-designed and co-produced change ideas.

They will also support engagement relating to the wider Trust strategy and other strategic priorities where required.

The post holder will report to the Engagement and Stakeholder Manager and play an important role in a small team delivering a wide range of engagement activities with external and internal stakeholders.

Skills and qualities sought for this role include: excellent organisation skills, attention to detail, clear and prompt communication skills including written, proficient in Microsoft Office packages, social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc), design programmes and online software (Canva, slido, Jamboard, survey monkey, Eventbrite etc). The post holder must be able to work in a pressurised environment, managing multiple tasks, problem solving and be used to working to tight deadlines. Having a personable manner and confidence to work with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.

This role is to predominantly work with Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (global majority) communities in Lambeth, Southwark, Croydon and Lewisham personal insight of these communities would be advantageous for taking on this role.

Recruitment process

We will invite shortlisted candidates to complete a short task online as an initial stage on 22 August. Candidates who perform well in that task will be invited to a final assessment and interview on 27 August. (Dates may change)

  • Training to undergraduate degree level or relevant equivalent experience with examples of continued professional development.


Experience

Desirable

  • Experience of working in an NHS/public sector setting

  • Competent user of design programmes such as canva and online software such as slido, Jamboards and Eventbrite
