Are you a Newly Qualified Operating Department Practitioner or a third year Student Operating Department Practitioner due to qualify in the next 6 months?
At North Bristol NHS Trust we currently have 34 theatres and a further 4 theatres in the new Elective Care Centre launching in Spring 2025. The theatres are supported by 72 medirooms and 4 traditional PACU facilities.
We are a Major Trauma Centre covering a range of specialties including Plastics & Breast, Urology, General, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Metabolic & GI, Elective Orthopaedic, Neuro & Spinal, Vascular, Interventional Radiology, Emergency & Trauma.
We are a well-established team with excellent support structures available to facilitate your preceptorship and career progression. You should be on target or complete your ODP programme within the next 6 months or already have your HCPC PIN / be waiting for your PIN.
You will have experienced a range of anaesthetic, scrub and PACU placements during your training and have demonstrated your ability to provide the best quality of perioperative care possible.

- Effective communication skills, verbal & written, to include report writing and record keeping.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with patients and multidisciplinary team.
- Effective computer / IT skills and expectation to develop these in line with the needs of the service.
- Ability to undertake shift work (flexible options available)
- Contribution to team development
- Sound knowledge of the guidelines set out in the NMC / HCPC code of professional conduct and current perioperative issues
- Excellent organisational skills, proven ability to problem solve and remain calm under pressure
