An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Podiatrist who is interested in a multitude of specialities in podiatry, including but not limited to foot diabetes and peripheral arterial disease biomechanics and paediatrics. Walsall Podiatry team has won Team of the Year in the past and in 2020 were shortlisted by the Health Service Journal for their work in managing the Diabetic foot. They have also won awards for their work with peripheral arterial disease and education in Nursing Homes.

Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The �170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading. Construction of the new integrated critical care unit was completed in2018,extension of a Neonatal Unit and brand new, state of the art Emergency Department is in the process of being completed.

Job responsibilities

- Have skills in the assessment, diagnosis, delivery and evaluation of individualised podiatric care packages to patients in a variety of locations including the patients own home.
- Contribute to maintaining tissue viability, maximise mobility, and relieve pain especially for patients with factors which place them at risk due to a variety of medical, structural and social needs e.g. diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, chronic systemic disease immunosuppressed, congenital abnormalities etc.
- Has investigative and analytical skills to assimilate and prioritise information in order to develop individual treatment plans based on clinical need and determine priority and risk status to facilitate caseload management.
- Has decision making skills to identify when patients require the intervention of other professionals e.g. Primary Care Teams, Tissue Viability Nurses, Musculoskeletal Team, Specialist Podiatrists, Orthotists etc.
- Carry out minor surgical procedures using local anaesthesia.
- To be an effective part of the Podiatry Team adhering to Podiatry Service and Trust policy, procedures and strategy
- To work as part of a multidisciplinary team network requesting the support and intervention of others as appropriate.
- To maintain and improve assessment and treatment knowledge and skills based upon evidence base and best practice.

- Degree/Diploma in Podiatry
- Health Professions Council registration
- Certificate in local anaesthesia

- Masters qualification or equivalent experience
- Significant Previous experience within the field
- Evidence of continued professional development

- Demonstrable experience with all equipment related to the diagnosis and treatment of the foot and ankle
- Demonstrable experience of treating medically at-risk patients
- Demonstrate exposure to a range of different specialities
Desirable
- Experience with biomechanics and paediatrics
- Experience with wound care and knowledge demonstrated
- Nail surgery experience with use of local anaesthetic since qualification
