Early Intervention in Psychosis
Band 7 Family Therapist - Adult services (Early intervention in Psychosis)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a systemic family therapist with excellent practitioner skills and demonstrated expertise and knowledge of working with people experiencing psychosis, bipolar and associated difficulties to join our psychological therapy service.
You will join a well-established and supportive Early Intervention in Psychosis service for people aged between 18-65 who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis and their families. The team is a friendly, diverse, and collaborative multi-disciplinary team which highly values the contribution of Systemic Therapy and offers NICE concordant care, which includes an emphasis on access to Family Interventions for Psychosis.
The service is based at Greenland Road, which is in the centre of Camden Town, with great transport links and amenities.
Main duties of the job
You will work directly with families from a wide range of diverse backgrounds, providing tailored assessment, formulation, consultation, and interventions. You will work closely with MDT colleagues and other agencies to provide psychologically informed care, through joint working, training, consultation, and reflective practice. You would be expected to practice as an independent clinician and work autonomously within professional guidelines and the policies and procedures of the service. You would be working within a supportive psychology team and under supervision and management of a Band 8a Systemic Family Therapist.
Alongside systemic family therapy our service also uses behavioural Family Intervention in Psychosis (FI-p) approaches. The successful applicant will work alongside these approaches and advise on which approach is more appropriate as needed. Training is available in one of these FI-p approaches to supplement your skills if required.
Ideally you would have previous experience of working with adults with psychosis and their families, but we also welcome applications from candidates interested in making the transition from Children's to Adult services.
The post requires UKCP registration. If there is a delay in gaining UKCP registration, initial appointment as a Band 6 Family Therapist will apply. This can be followed by progression to Band 7 upon UKCP registration. The post is full-time but part-time hours and flexible working will be considered.
About us
You would be joining a vibrant community of psychological therapists in community psychosis services, drawing on a range of approaches including CBTp, Family interventions and systemic therapies, third wave therapies, and other approaches. We are committed to providing regular and high-quality supervision as well as excellent opportunities for continued professional development.
The Trust is a Trauma-informed Organisation and uses a trauma-informed approach in all its work with staff and service users. It has active programmes to support diversity in the workforce and anti-discriminatory practice, a flexible working policy and excellent access to CPD opportunities. We have close links with local training organisations and have trainees on placement working under supervision.
By coming to work at Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust you will be joining a Trust with a national reputation for research where services recognise that research underpins its commitment to providing high quality and innovative clinical care.
The post holder may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. This may mean that you are required to work at any location that fall under Barnet, Enfield and Harringay Trust and Camden and Islington Trust. The Trust reserves the right to require staff to work at such other places or locations as it considers reasonable and necessary on a temporary or permanent basis.
