The Estates department at Furness General Hospital is a group of highly skilled electrical, mechanical and plumbing engineers, creative building craftpersons, and dedicated support staff. We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Building Team Leader to join us. You should be experienced and time served in a building trade and be looking to progress your career
Main duties of the job
To manage all aspects of building property maintenance for trust properties and other organisation's properties on behalf of the trust.
To supervise and carry out line manager duties for trade staff.
To participate in the training of junior staff and apprentices to ensure they receive work experience, upskilling and competency-based task training.
To be trained and appointed as an Authorised Person for roles within HTM 1 to 8.
To ensure materials, technical information, and access are available for trade staff to fulfil their duties. To manage contractor staff on site and ensure their compliance with HTM, Infection Prevention, control of contractors, and H& S regulations. To assist the site Building and Engineering Managers as required to carry out estate surveys, estates returns, manage project works, and monitor energy usage.

We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

- Recognised craft apprenticeship or equivalent training and relevant certification.
- NVQ3, HNC / ONC or equivalent in Building or Civil Engineering.

- NEBOSH General or Construction
- NEBOSH Fire

Experience

- Experience of working in a building environment in a management role.
- Experience of training/mentoring apprentices

- Healthcare experience and a thorough knowledge of HTM 01 to 08
