Are you a passionate, self motivated, driven practitioner with experience in working with neonates then this role could be for you!.. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced adult/children's nurse/midwife with experience working with clinically unwell neonates with expert leadership and managerial experience to fill this permanent position as Ward Manager within our Neonatal Service. You will have responsibility for the day to day operational and patient safety management of the Neonatal Unit. You will work in collaboration with the Matron, Maternity, Paediatric leads, the senior management team and clinical leads to ensure high standards of safe and quality care provision on the Neonatal Unit.
There will be an expectation of clinical working to maintain clinical credibility as part of this role.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will have responsibility for the day to day operational management of the clinical service delivery for the Neonatal Unit.
To support staff to provide safe and personalised care based on current research, ensuring optimum level of safe, effective care, responsive to the needs of each neonate and their family whilst providing a well lead service.
To ensure that there is efficient and effective utilisation of all resources required to deliver optimum quality care to their client group.
The post holder will deputise for the Matron in his/her absence, driving forward evidence based practice and taking responsibility for the supervision of staff and the policies and practices that operate within their clinical area.

The Neonatal Unit is currently based at The Princess Royal Hospital is a Level 2 NNU and consists of 22 cots (3 ITU, 3 HDU and 16 SCBU). We are part of the West Midlands Operational Delivery Network.
We embrace family-centred care involving parents in all aspects of their baby's care and are proud of the services we deliver. We have a dedicated community team who follows the baby's journey from discharge to support parents and family within the community.
We have achieved stage 1 BFI accreditation and is currently working towards achieving stage 2. We see parents as partners in care and work together to deliver the highest standards of care and to provide the best experience for each neonate within the hospital and community settings
We take pride in what we do and know the positive impact an educated workforce has on our outcome, hence we have in place bespoke training andsupport for all staff throughout your employment journey at SaTH. Experience and Knowledge

- Relevant exprience at Band 6 taking charge of a Paeds/Neonatal ICU
- Experience of leading and managing a team
- Excellent neonatal clinical skills and knowledge
- Evidence of coordinating and managing day to day operational issues on an paeds/neonatal intensive care unit
- Experience in teaching and training staff
- An awareness and understanding of national and local issues that affect Nursing and the NHS as a whole.
