Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit a motivated, forward-thinking Lead Superintendent Radiographer to join our team within Central Radiology at University Hospital Southampton.
The successful candidate must be innovative organised, inclusive, compassionate, knowledgeable, and adaptable, providing positive leadership throughout Radiology. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for this role.
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust's Managed Equipment Service contract ensures a planned and guaranteed equipment replacement program with managed maintenance and repair, which will ensure you will always work with the latest technology.

Working with others to deliver an effective and efficient high quality imaging service that meets the needs of both patients and referrers. Promoting planar and fluoroscopy excellence within the Radiographic team Acting as the lead clinical radiographer providing direction to staff and expert advice on specialist equipment Managing resources to provide the imaging service. Providing appraisals, education, and training to the staff group to ensure competency, capability and development. Recruitment to maintain continuity of service provision

We are a large dynamic, multicultural team of radiographers with a wide range of expertise.
We comprise of the following areas:
Main X-rayThis area provides general, fluoroscopy and mobile radiography for adult in-patients and out-patients. There are 5 DR X-ray rooms, 2 state of the art digital fluoroscopy rooms, and a fleet of DR mobiles. There is also a Xograph DR Dental Imaging room.
Emergency X-ray.This area provides adult and paediatric trauma radiography for the Emergency Department and Major Trauma Centre plus emergency and general theatre imaging.There are 3 DR x-ray rooms, DR mobiles and a fleet of up to date image intensifiers undertaking a wide variety of complex imaging procedures. including mobile 3D imaging.
Interventional RadiologyOur interventional Unit carries out a wide range of complex vascular, non-vascular and oncology procedures in 2 Siemens interventional labs in additional to a Hybrid Lab. The unit is the cancer centre and major vascular hub within the region.
Royal South Hants X-rayThis satellite unit, near the city centre, provides imaging for adult outpatient clinics and GP referrals and has 4 DR x-ray rooms.
Advanced PracticeWe currently have radiographers reporting in MSK, Chest and Abdomen Planar imaging and specialist radiographers performing and reporting Barium and Video Fluoroscopy Swallows. We also have a radiographer Lithotripsy service. UHS also offers exceptional leadership training in both formal and informal settings.
