This is an exciting opportunity for a CAMHS Practitioner to join an inspiring, innovative and motivated NHS and Social Care integrated team.

The team works systemically with children and young people, their families and wider support networks to assess and formulate the systemic needs of the child, young person and wider family system. We then work in collaboration with existing teams and resources, such as the Strengthening Families Team (SFT). As a service we use a whole family, strengths-based approach. We have a small residential facility to provide voluntary inpatient support, if needed, and/or provide support in the community.

Our Band 6 CAMHS Practitioner posts are open to candidates who are skilled in mental health assessment, risk assessment, trauma informed and delivering therapeutic interventions to support emotional wellbeing and mental health. Experience of working within children and young people would be advantageous. All employees are offered a structured induction and development plan to support clinicians to develop their skills to deliver the best possible outcomes for children and young people.

Main duties of the job

Applicants will need to be compliant with the professional requirements as determined by Mental Health Measure 2010 and should have a relevant professional and registered qualification relating to Health or Social Care (e.g. Clinical Psychology, Mental Health or Learning Disability Nursing, Occupational Therapy or Social work). Applicants should also be able to demonstrate a high level of competence, knowledge and skills (underpinned by knowledge of effective risk assessment and relevant evidence-based practice, which is crucial to this role).

Applicants should be able to demonstrate evidence of their clinical understanding and decision-making skills be a committed team player with the ability to prioritise their own workload, and work well under pressure. Good IT skills are essential with confidence in Outlook, Word and Excel.

You will receive clinical supervision from senior members of the team.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Relevant professional Qualification and Registration: NMC registered MH Nurse, NMC registered LD Nurse, SCW/Eng registered Social Worker, HCPC Registered OT, HCPC registered Practitioner PSychologist
  • Eligible to practice under the mental health measure Wales 2010. .
  • Post grad diploma or relevant knowledge, training and experience in the specialist field acquired through specialist training and on the job experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of mental health problems and disorders
  • Excellent knowledge of family dynamics and issues relating to working with families
  • Understanding of relevant therapeutic approaches
  • Knowledge and appreciation of national policies


Desirable

  • Additional formal qualification in a recognised therapeutic approach
  • Specific, targeted, evidence based interventions e.g. EMDR
  • Formal qualification in a relevant field e.g. Child Development, Mental Health etc
  • Understanding of service structures and inter-agency working
  • Knowledge of specific disorders / conditions relevant to CAMHS


Experience

Essential

  • Relevant post registration experience of working with children, young people and families in a health or social care environment or mental health setting


Desirable

  • Experience of working in a specific clinical role relating to CAMHS
  • Previous specialist CAMHS experience
