Bromsgrove Neighbourhood Team is a friendly, professional but fun loving, supportive and hardworking team who are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join us at our base in Bromsgrove. The traditional role of the NHS community nurse has been completely transformed as more care is delivered in community settings enabling patients to receive the highly skilled care they need in their own homes. Main duties of the job

The role will require:

A caring and compassionate nurse who delivers care with professionalism and integrity

Shifts 7.5hrs between 7:30am 18.00 pm, Monday to Sunday including bank holidays). Additional enhancements will be received for weekend working.

A willingness to develop more skills and commitment to learning.

A typical working day will include home visits for adults needing a range of nursing interventions. These include caring for people reaching the end of their life, managing their pain relief and other symptoms in a sensitive and compassionate manner, all types of wound care- post operative wounds, leg ulcers, pressure ulcers and complex dressing regimes, IV therapy and other injectable drug administration and holistic assessment of a persons needs.

Back at your base, you will be involved in team meetings, goal/care planning and evaluation and handover meetings. You will also support the teaching and learning of nurse students pre and post registration.

Job responsibilities

This will be achieved through a combination of hands on clinical skills and knowledge to treat, educate and support patients on a designated caseload and by working with patients and their carers to assess, plan and implement appropriate packages of care.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse (RN1)
  • I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer


Desirable

  • Accredited courses in palliative care, tissue viability, Diabetes
  • Mentor award


Experience

Essential

  • Experience gained during Pre Registration training


Desirable

  • 2 years post registration experience
  • Community nursing experience
  • Experience of management of caseloads


Knowledge

Essential

  • Variety of evidence based clinical skills
  • Confidence to teach student nurses, trainee nursing associates, patients, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team
  • Understanding of evidence- based nursing, multidisciplinary working, clinical governance


Desirable

  • Competence in male and suprapubic catheterisation
  • Venepuncture and IV therapy
  • Cannulation
  • Management of syringe drivers
