The Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association have funded temporary posts to support the specialist therapy services within the MND Care Centre at Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH). There is a Physiotherapy post and a Speech and Language Therapy post, each for a trial 2 year period starting on the date of appointment. The posts sit within the existing close knit specialist multi-disciplinary service for MND at NUH and is hosted by Therapy services.
These posts will enhance the current service by providing outreach service, using a hybrid clinic and domiciliary visit approach, working jointly with community colleagues to support this complex patient group. A key part of the role will be working alongside the MND lead Consultant, Nurse Specialists and AHPs to respond to NICE guidelines for MND and to evaluate the impact of the trial.
We are looking for applicants with significant experience with this patient group, or those with a similar presentation. The post requires advanced clinical reasoning, critical thinking, and reflection skills. There is support and supervision from the MND team and from within Therapies.
Each post is 0.8WTE (4 days a week) fixed term for 2 years. Job share and flexible hours will be considered. The current core clinic day is Wednesday.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide a specialist clinical service to patients with MND under the care of the MND Care Centre at NUH, working closely with clinical MDT for co-ordinated and integrated clinical care and to support service development, service evaluation, and governance.
There will be leadership and clinical supervision from the Adult ventilation Clinical Specialist Physiotherapistwho specialises in neuromuscular respiratory disease and long term ventilation.
The role requires data collection and analysis, to evaluate the impact of the post
Please note that this is a regional service, requiring the candidate be a car driver, with a car insured for business use.
Each post is 0.8WTE (4 days a week) fixed term for 2 years.
Working on a Wednesday is essential to be present in the MND MDT
Job share and flexible hours will be considered
There is no weekend or out of hours working attached to this post
