Are you a NMC Registered Qualified Nurse (General/Paediatric/Mental Health/Learning Disabilities) or NMC Registered Midwife who would like the opportunity to be paid to train to become a Health Visitor and work within the 0-19 Early Help service?

This is a brilliant job for someone who enjoys working with children and families and is passionate about their health and wellbeing.

Starting January 2025, you will be employed by East Sussex Healthcare Trust (ESHT) as a vital part of one of our Hub teams to undertake a fully funded Level 7 degree. This is a one-year full-time course to complete the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) training in Health Visiting at Oxford Brooks University. The course is delivered via an online pathway.

You will have the opportunity to embed yourself within one of our Hubs, build strong team relationships and be very familiar with the 0-19 service. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your professional career, where upon successful completion of the course, you will gain the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing Qualification and become a qualified Band 6 Health Visitor.

Practice placements within the catchment area of ESHT, which covers the county from Peacehaven in the West to Forest Row in the North of the county and Rye in the East.

Excellent learning environment supported by Practice Supervisors and Assessors and support from the Locality Manager Education Lead.

Preceptorship for newly qualified Health Visitors, competency based learning and supportive mentoring and line management.

6 weekly 1-1 high quality clinical and safeguarding supervision from line managers who have undergone supervision training

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse/Midwife on NMC register at level 6 study


Desirable

  • Mentorship and Child Protection would be Desirable


Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrates ability to learn and understand appropriate HV service and lead innovative practice
  • Experience of working in a multi-agency environment
  • Experience of delivery of innovative practice


Desirable

  • Community experience


Knowledge

Essential

  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of child protection procedures
  • Indications of child abuse and risk assessments
  • Ability to demonstrate the use of research based practice
  • Ability to demonstrate up-to-date clinical expertise
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of current NHS legislation and policies, including the Children Act 1989
  • Ability to identify own learning needs
  • Clinical governance
