The post holder will be a member of the General and Vascular Surgery Directorate Management Team and will be responsible for delivering operational standards within the General Surgery service.

Specific responsibilities will include the management of the services administration team, effectively managing outpatient clinics to ensure they are in line with agreed service policies and implementing actions to ensure that the service can maintain its National and Trust referral to treatment (RTT) targets, escalating any concerns for support as required.

The post holder will be expected to work closely with colleagues and provide support where needed including cover during periods of leave. The role will be expected to work on multiple sites as and when required, the main base being St Mary's Hospital.

Main duties of the job

To provide support to all designated A& C staff members

Input and maintenance of accurate patient information on Trust information systems

Delivery of agreed RTT and Cancer delivery plans

Meeting agreed departmental policies for the management of outpatient clinics

Contribution to positive patient experiences

Provide reports as requested

Attend PTL meetings and present when required

Provide daily updates with regards to FDS performance

Proactively manage timely diagnostics , ensuring that we have flagged and delays to patient pathways

work alongside the STT team - aiding any a& c support ensure that medical rotas allow for consistent VC being mindful of delays that could impact patient pathways

support patient stakeholder groups to gain knowledge / feedback that can be used to improve the service .

Education/ Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent experience
  • Good general education inc. English and Maths GCSE A-C or equivalent
  • Evidence of continuing education and professional development


Desirable

  • Higher national diploma/degree in business (or equivalent) or equivalent experience


Experience

Essential

  • Previous NHS/Healthcare experience
  • Experience of working and dealing with the public
  • Experience of managing a team and a broad range of administrative staff in an NHS Setting
  • Experience of interpreting and presenting data
  • Experience of working across professional boundaries

  • Experience of change management

  • Knowledge of health systems and procedures
