An opportunity has arisen for a Team Manager to play a key leadership and management role for the Secure Inpatient ServicesPsychology Service within Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Trust.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day line management of staff within the psychology service, be responsible for budgetary and performance reporting and ensure planned delivery of therapeutic intervention and programmes throughout the year. You will also work with the Psychological Professions Lead to support the governance and assurance of psychological assessment and treatment in the service.

A key role will be to support the development and delivery of evidence based governed psychological therapies and support development of the psychology staff as scientist-practitioners through evaluation, audit and research.

You will possess highly developed leadership skills and management expertise and have a commitment to successfully delivering compassionate, trauma informed and recovery focused care. You will be expected to support the professional development of all staff within the psychology service and deliver on the key performance indicators and outcomes working under the line management of the Therapies Service Manager and within professional expectations as outlined by the Associate Director of Therapies and Professional Lead for Psychology (forensic services). Understanding of the delivery of governed psychological therapies is preferential although not essential.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone who is passionate about delivering excellent mental health services and can support and enable the different teams to achieve their potential. Key responsibilities will include supervision and appraisal for the teams, performance, recruitment and management of staff, ensuring that people have timely access to the services they are responsible for and that people receive treatment in line with our pathways.

You will need to have excellent relationship building and engagement skills and be capable of managing varied work demands based on the changing needs of the services.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Be Educated to Master's level in leadership or a subject area relevant to the area of practice OR Have equivalent clinical experience to that of masters level such as working as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area with significant experience - which also includes significant experience of managing people (see below under experience), together with evidence of CPD
  • The Trust's Quality Improvement system (QIS) - or completion of training within
  • Current professional registration with appropriate body in healthcare or social work or relevant professional clinical qualification (ie PWP/CWP in IAPT/Getting Help services)


Skills / experience

Essential

  • Significant experience of managing people
  • Evidence of delivering supervision
  • Developing, maintaining and auditing standards of practice
  • Working collaboratively with others (external partners, staff service users and their families/carers)
