University Hospitals Birmingham has an exciting opportunity to work as part of a multi-disciplinary catering team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

The post holder will assist the Lead Catering Manager with the day-to-day management and operation of UHB catering services, including ward services that feed over 1,400 in-patients.

They will drive forward all retail outlets across the Trust site and support and innovate our busy hospitality service.

The individual in this role will actively promote, develop, and manage these services daily by working collaboratively with team members and key steak holders.

The post holder will aim to meet all key performance indicators and ensure positive and effective customer relations.

Main duties of the job

*Create and maintain good working relations through good communication, appropriate procedures and effective teamwork.

*Responsible for health, safety and hygiene throughout the areas of immediate responsibility and all associated paperwork.

*Promote a healthy and safe working environment in accordance with Health & Safety Legislation planning and escorting the Environmental Health Officer's annual inspection.

*Support the Lead Catering Manager with the production, implementation and monitoring of the HACCP policy for the catering department. This includes assisting with the implementation of legislative changes relating to all aspects of food purchase, storage, production and service.

*Day to day supervision of ward services, retail outlets and other associated business maintaining a consistent high profile in all areas.

*Ensure all furniture, fittings and equipment in all areas are maintained and in good condition.

Co-ordinate repairs of equipment with Estate and participate with purchasing / appraisal of new equipment.

*Take responsibility for collating results from monthly stock control and monitor the performance of the Trust-wide vending contract.

*A key focus will be on promoting staff well-being by integrating the Trust's resources to support the health and well-being of our staff.

Qualifications

Essential

  • * Advanced Food Hygiene 3 (Awarding body C.I.E.H / Highfield / R.S.P.H)
  • * Allergen Training Level 2
  • * Informal HACCP Training
  • * Food Hygiene Level 3. (Awarding body C.I.E.H /Highfield / R.S.P.H)
  • * HND or Diploma or similar experience working in NHS Catering or large staff management.
  • * Educated to degree level or equivalent, and evidence of continual professional development in catering operations.
  • * LIM level 5


Experience

Essential

  • * Specialised knowledge of large catering production operations, food safety, cook chill processes, HACCP and dietary requirements.
