Exciting opportunities have arisen within our Trust to join the Liaison Psychiatry Team at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital. We are a 24/7 service covering all aspects of mental health. We are looking to appoint dynamic, experienced, committed and enthusiastic mental health nurses looking for a challenging job to develop your assessment skills in our second busiest hospital in Birmingham. You can expect to achieve and build upon skills of working in a pressured environment, fast pace and richly cultural diversity team like Heartlands.
Main duties of the job
The Liaison Psychiatry Service is an innovative and award winning team delivering mental health assessment, intervention, care planning, signposting and onward referrals for patients in acute hospitals. We work to address the mental health needs of people receiving physical health treatment from ages 16 years and upwards. Common presentations include DSH (Deliberate Self Harm Behaviours), depression, anxiety, dementia, and psychosis. We assess people in A& E, AMU and all acute wards including Princess of Wales Women's hospital at Heartlands.
We are offering you an opportunity to become a specialist nurse in Liaison Psychiatry, develop your assessment skills and be part of this innovative team. You must be a qualified mental health nurse with experience of leading a team within clinical settings and be prepared to work across a 24 hour rota. It is important that you have an understanding of multidisciplinary services and the challenges that face people with mental health problems in acute hospitals. You will be expected to under take front-line assessments, signposting, liaise with acute colleagues, and develop safe clinical management discharge plans.
