Norman Power Unit is a pathway 2 unit providing further health and social care assessments. This will include comprehensive therapy assessment and intervention.

The Norman Power Unit is looking for a Senior Occupational Therapist (Team Lead) to co-ordinate and develop the clinical service and provide leadership to the therapy team.

You will support a small team of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy staff on a daily basis, with case load management, alongside regular supervision and appraisals and education.

You will manage a varied caseload requiring a multi-skilled approach with experience and knowledge of discharge planning. You will be required to liaise effectively with community colleagues to co-ordinate timely and safe discharges as well as attend regular referrer and pathway meetings.

The post holder will be supported by the Occupational Therapy Senior team at QEHB. They will have opportunities to work with experts in their field and be offered regular supervision and support.

This is extended by support from our School of Nursing, AHPs and Midwifery. Main duties of the job

Advanced leadership skills to lead a clinical team of therapy staff.

Assessment skills and treatment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills including an ability to provide and receive complex, sensitive and contentious information. IT skills are beneficial.

Autonomous practitioner with the ability to prioritise and organise own workload and support staff as required.

Excellent organisational and time management skills.

An ability to cope with a range of complex options, find solutions, analyse, compare and decide on appropriate course of action.

An ability to work as part of an inter-disciplinary team.

Specialist knowledge and assessment skills, across a range of therapy practices, requiring expertise within the field of Occupational Therapy.

Highly developed physical skills including dexterity, co-ordination & sensory skills for assessment and manual treatment of patients.

Comprehensive knowledge & experience of discharge to assess process and pathways.

• BSc in OT/ Dip COT
• HCPC registration
• Evidence of CPD including recent post graduate training relevant to clinical speciality.

Experience

• Demonstrates comprehensive clinical experience enabling the post holder to manage a caseload of patients with complex needs in this speciality.
• Significant experience within the relevant clinical area.
• Experience of team/service development.
• Experience of supporting and supervision of junior therapists, student therapists and assistants.
• A specialist knowledge across a range of therapy practices, routine and non-routine, requiring expertise within the field of therapy.
• Understanding of current legislation and application to Occupational Therapy.
