The Head of Nursing and Theatre Practitioners is the designated deputy for the Theatre Manager. They are primarily responsible for the provision of safe, high quality care. You willensure effective safety and governance systems for clinical standards are in place and that support from administrative and clinical systems is optimising the quality patient experience.

The post holder will provide a senior, accessible, visible and clinical professional presence in the clinical environment to which staff, patients and their families can turn for assistance.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an individual that can provide inspirational leadership to the peri-operative clinical teams and staff working in your areas of responsibility.

You will have a strong background in engaging teams to achieve the highest levels of safety and quality standards.You will be able to evidence positive change management in patient experience and safety outcomes.

You will be proficient in working collaboratively across mutli-disciplinary teams, embedding a culture of learning from qualitative and quantitative data.

Knowledge of clinical practice and demonstrable knowledge of developments in nursing policy and practice.

Understanding of and commitment to developing clinical governance

Ability to advise senior Managers senior in relation to risk management and quality improvement

Ability to set own priorities and meet tight deadlines and work independently

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current registration on NMC Register or HCPC registration
  • Significant post qualification experience in Theatres


Desirable

  • Evidence of Masters level study or equivalent and willingness to participate
  • Attendance of leadership development programme


Experience

Essential

  • Success in working collaboratively across professions and services, and with external stakeholders such as members of the public
  • Demonstrable success in managing change
  • Experience of introducing evidence based practice

  • Research experience /Audit experience


Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Understanding of and commitment to NHS Strategy/Patient safety initiatives
