An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, forward thinking Specialist Occupational Therapist to join the Bedded Intermediate Care Units.

Bolton Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Bolton Council work in partnership to provide patient focused care in residential units in the community. Intermediate Care focuses on the prevention of unnecessary hospital admission, effective discharge from hospital and promotion of independence, especially for the older person. We have a large and comprehensive multi-disciplinary team that cover a number of beds located across 2 residential sites in the Bolton area.

Main duties of the job

The position we are recruiting to will be part of the Intermediate Care therapy team, the team consists of Physiotherapists and Occupational therapists as well as therapy assistants. The successful candidate will be expected to rotate across the IMC units to ensure the needs of the service are met. The successful candidate will work as part of a health and social care multidisciplinary team comprising of medics, pharmacists, social workers and nurses.

About us

Candidates will have recent and relevant post registration experience and an interest in elderly rehabilitation in an acute and community rehabilitation setting. They should also be able to evidence recent self directed learning and development.

Candidates will need to be able to travel to meet the needs of this post and will therefore need access to a vehicle for work. The post will provide an excellent opportunity for individuals that enjoy working as part of a close multi-disciplinary/multi agency team. You must have a genuine interest in working with older people, be self-motivated, enthusiastic, resourceful and comfortable working in a changing environment.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
  • Current professional registration with HCPC


Desirable

  • Clinical Educator
  • Post-graduate qualification


Experience

Essential

  • oTreatment of a broad range of conditions relating to clinical speciality
  • oMulti-disciplinary/multi-agency collaborative working.
  • oPractice skills in relevant field of practice


Desirable

  • oDemonstrate evidence of improving and developing service and practice
  • Evidence of leading and implementing clinical change


Knowledge

Essential

  • oUnderstanding of the quality and governance framework and implications for practice including audit and research governance.
  • oKnowledge of Health & Social Care integration agenda
  • oUnderstanding of current NHS/government policy/Public Health/NICE guidelines on organisational change and the ability to adapt these appropriately to local service needs through publication of documents.
