Main duties of the job

In 2012, the Radiology Department underwent a 23 million pound total redevelopment to accommodate the 200,000 plus examinations performed each year. Another multimillion pound redevelopment of the A& E department and A& E X-ray services, including an A& E CT scanner was completed in 2017. The department actively encourages continued professional development (CPD) and opportunities are available for further training and development.The post includes a rotation through general x-ray, A& E x-ray, theatre and mobile imaging and fluoroscopy.

  • DCR (R) or BSc Diagnostic Radiography

  • Experience of a diverse range of radiographic x-ray techniques
  • Experience performing radiographic examinations working in both theatre and ward environments
  • Experience using PACS and CRIS and an understanding of its significance for good service management and patient care.
  • NHS experience and knowledge


Desirable

  • Experience dealing with a diverse range of patients.


Skills and aptitudes

Essential

  • Ability to work within a team
  • Willing to take direction and learn from more experienced and senior colleagues.
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of radiation protection methods and legislation for patients and staff.

  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to prioritise & organise demands for radiology services with reference to x-ray, theatres and mobiles.
  • Keen interest in mentoring junior staff and students
