Main duties of the job

Our Mental Health Practitioners will work as part of an established integrated multi-disciplinary Home Treatment Team, Mental Health Connect line and Crisis Hub.

The team promotes a dynamic and innovative way of working, triaging and responding to mental health crisis calls and referrals, providing interventions, support, guidance and signposting. The service further delivers timely and responsive face to face assessments where required.

We welcome applications from nurses, occupational therapists and social workers. This team is made up of a Psychiatrist, Nurses, Occupational Therapist, Approved Mental Health Practitioners, Social Workers, CAPS, Wellbeing Coaches and Support Time Recovery Workers with the support of an admin team and psychologists.

To build and broaden your experience whilst adding variety to the post, the successful candidate/s will rotate between working in Home Treatment Team, the Crisis Hub and the Mental Health Connect Helpline.

This is a full-time post, working 13 long days/nights over a 4 week period.

Person Specification

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • Current professional registration NMC / HCPC
  • Professional qualification - RMN / SW /OT
  • Evidence of continued professional development


Desirable

  • To have Sign Off Mentor (SOM) qualification as in accordance with the NMC and be able to sign off students as proficient for registration


Experience

Essential

  • Substantial post registration experience
  • Previous experience working with service users in mental health crisis
  • Working knowledge of crisis assessment and intervention


Desirable

  • Solution focussed training/experience
  • Advanced skills in CBT


Skills and Aptitude

Essential

  • Effective leadership and management skills
  • Confident in their abilities to make rapid and effective decision


Knowledge and Abilities

Essential

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the principles and knowledge base underpinning crisis assessment and intervention
  • Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 and other mental health legislation
