An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 12 month fixed term secondment for a band 6 paediatric junior sister position 37.5 hours per week

Main duties of the job

Successful applicants will join an established paediatric nursing team, working within a designated children's area in the Emergency Department. This is a fully rotational post and will be a shift pattern of days, nights, weekends and public holidays to ensure that there is 24 hour paediatric nursing cover at all times within the Emergency Department.

Ensure adherence to agree Trustpolicies. Primarily to provide emergency nursing tochildren and their families attending A& E and to supportprovision of care to all client groups. Provide support tothe junior nursing team providing clinical/safeguardingsupervision.Infection prevention and control:The post holder must comply with all relevant policies,procedures and training on infection prevention andcontrolJOB ROLEA. MANAGING ACTIVITIESA1. Person Specification

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

• RSCN / RN Child
• ePALS or APLS provider
• Safeguarding children level 3
• ENB 998/NST 307/Supervisor qualification

Experience

Essential

• Significant post registration in an acute paediatric environment
• Ability to take charge of an acute paediatric area on a shift basis
• Experience of co-ordinating and implementing service improvement
• Management/treatment of Minor injuries/ ailments
• Understanding the role of research and development activities in ED
• Ability to demonstrate understanding of the current issues affecting ED services including Clinical Governance, CQC recommendations and RCPCH standards
• Effective leadership skills

Desirable

• Experience of shift leading in the ED
• Teaching and presenting lectures to staff
• Experience in completing and presenting research
