We are looking for a Registered Nurse or ODP to join our team as a Band 6 Deputy Team Leader for Theatres in our brand new Planned Care Centre.
We want every patient to have the best possible care and support so have started an extensive re-organisation of our three sites in Leicester - the Leicester Royal Infirmary, the Leicester General Hospital and the Glenfield Hospital.
As part of that work, we've created the East Midlands Planned Care Centre, a stand alone unit on site at the Leicester General Hospital. A multi million pound investment to improve care and reduce waiting lists for the people of Leicester and beyond.
Having welcomed our first patients in early Summer 2023, recruitment has now commenced on phase 2 to expand our services. The Centre is due to open in December 2024, at least 86,000 additional outpatient contacts with treatment where required will be made per year.
When the East Midland Planned Care Centre opens in December 2024 the building will consist of two operating Theatres, 14 outpatient rooms, four clean rooms and a surgical day case facility, together with two 18-bedded wards dedicated to elective day case / post surgical activity, as well as medical day case for Oncology, Haematology and Gastroenterology patients.
Main duties of the job
We need a highly motivated and dynamic practitioner to join us in this evolving team that will grow and develop over time. The Theatres will deliver activity from General Surgery, Urology, Gynaecology, Ophthamology and ENT services. The Elective Care Centre will welcome these specialities over 6 days of operating.
The successful candidate will be delivering all aspects of peri-operative care for elective cases so experience or a strong transferable skills set will be required.
The East Midlands Planned Care Centre will see a high volume of patient's per day. It will be a fast paced environment and will require a highly motivated, adaptable candidate who will lead be example and teach new members of the team.
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate that they have a high level of organisational skills including time management, the ability to confidently prioritise and organise clinical and managerial responsibilities.
They will also be expected to participate in the effective clinical leadership and management of the team, including supporting and developing colleagues in the formation of a new theatre team and be committed to delivering a high quality service to ensure patient care, safety and experience is the best it can be.
About us
Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).
We have four primary goals:
And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.
Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
