We are looking for a skilled, enthusiastic and experience Children's Speech and Language Therapist to work as part of our forward-thinking team. You will be part of a friendly, experienced department who work closely with families and partner agencies to support children and young people's speech, language and communication needs. We have a well-established service providing a 'balanced system' across Salford delivering universal, targeted and specialist levels of support. These SLT roles will be within our SALT Enhanced Service and will involve delivery of clinical interventions in schools and/or specialist resource provisions, delivery and development of our training offer to schools, parents/carers, and colleagues and supervision/support of staff.

Due to the nature of the post you will need to be able to travel to different sites as required by the service.

Main duties of the job

  • To deliver specialist clinical work within schools and/or specialist resource provisions as part of a Speech and Language Therapy team.
  • To assess and diagnose conditions and to plan and implement specialist Speech and Language Therapy programmes of care and treatment and discharge appropriately, using evidence-based practice.
  • To provide peer support to and receive peer support from other Speech and Language colleagues.
  • To work collaboratively with parents, carers and educators and to support children with a range of communication needs.
  • To demonstrate clinical effectiveness through the use of evidence based practice and outcome measures.
  • To support the development and delivery of training packages to parents/carers and teaching staff.

  • Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses
  • Full driving license (car owner/driver essential)

  • Demonstrate excellent specialist knowledge in a wide range of paediatric communication disorders which is underpinned by current evidence based practice.
  • Relevant post-graduate experience working in schools.
  • Good planning organisational, caseload management and prioritisation skills.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated use of up to date assessment tools relevant to client group
  • Knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions
  • Ability and commitment to deliver training packages
  • Basic IT skills
  • Good presentation skills both written and verbal
