We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity to join our Integrated Mental Health team (IMHT) based in Cannock, as a HCPC Registered Occupational Therapist on a Band 5-6 developmental post.
The Integrated Mental Health teams work as part of a 'neighbourhood' offering place-based provision of mental health services in partnership with other local organisations. Clinicians within the IMHT offer interventions and treatments which are concordant with NICE guidelines, and allocation within the team will be based on the needs of the service user, matching clinician skills to service user needs.
This exciting role offers you a unique opportunity to cultivate the core skills and competencies for an Occupational Therapist and to demonstrate the ability to function in Senior Occupational Therapist role over an 18-month period. You will be expected to complete and work against the competency framework within an agreed timeframe in order to progress to the Band 6 role.
You will be well-supported by a Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist along with the management of the IMHT and a supportive Multi-Disciplinary Team who will offer continuous support and guidance.

Main duties of the job
You will work as part of our team of experienced Occupational Therapists, Assistant Practitioners, Assistants and Therapy Support workers provide multidisciplinary services to adults with a range of conditions across the different mental health specialities.
We are looking for enthusiastic Occupational Therapists with:
To assess new service user referrals and therapy needs.The care/support plans may include the following:
o Promoting independence/self-management and maintaining safety
o Using occupation to holistically to improve health and wellbeing.
o Prevention and reduction of health inequalities
o Admission avoidance
o Case management/ treatment/ care plans
To take accountability for allocated assessments, planning and implementation of care packages/ programmes of support within their caseload.

How does a Developmental Post Work?
Your competencies will be regularly discussed in your appraisal and supervision from the time you start with us.
The progression from band 5 to 6 will be discussed in your Appraisal after a minimum of 12 months. We envisage that the journey from band 5 6 will take between 12 18 months.
Once you are able and committed to deliver a Band 6 OT role as described in the Job Description, you will submit a Competency Log
You will then attend an interview with the IMHT Manager and Clinical Lead aimed at appointing you to the Band 6 OT role.
