Main duties of the job
We are currently seeking a dedicated Mental Health Practitioner to join our West Lancashire Community Mental Health Team. This role presents an exciting opportunity to positively impact the lives of individuals facing complex and enduring mental health challenges. Through innovative approaches like Dialog+, we collaborate closely with service users, understanding their experiences, identifying goals, and providing tailored support to empower them on their journey to wellness.
As a valued member of our team, you will have the autonomy to deliver high-quality care while also benefiting from collaborative efforts. Your responsibilities will include connecting service users with vital resources, offering psychoeducation, and co-creating practical coping strategies to help manage symptoms effectively.
About us
Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.
The Trust also provides a range of physical health and well-being services in the community alongside a range of partners in the Lancashire, Cumbria and Sefton area.

- Professionally Registered Mental Health Nurse
- Equivalent professional registered Allied Health Care Professional
- Evidence of continuing professional development
Knowledge

- Clear understanding of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Care Act and how this influences practice within the CMHT, inpatient and HTT settings
- Ability to engage in audit/ research process in order to influence care according to best practice
- Ability to manage complex caseload
Experience
Essential
- Post qualification experience within mental health services. With some of these to have been within acute mental health services
- Experience of working with a full range of mental illness
- Engagement / working closely with wider agencies (e.g. ASC, housing, 3rd sector)
Skills

- Skills in the use of methods of assessment, formulation / interventions, and evaluation
- Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of multi- media materials suitable for presentations within public, professional, academic settings
- Well-developed skills in providing clinical supervision and consultation to other professional and non-professional groups
