We are looking for a professional, confident and experienced Physiotherapist or Registered Nurse*12 months maternity cover* who can deliver operational and clinical leadership to the established Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust's Community Respiratory team.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop skills in areas including:

o Developing further experience within the Respiratory field

o Experience of managing individuals and teams

o Experience of leading improvement

We are looking for an experienced clinician to provide will provide clinical expertise and advanced practice knowledge and to progress service development and participate in collaborative working priorities within the integrated care system

We are a team of health and care professional and leaders dedicated to the delivery and development of high-quality community services supporting people to live their best lives in their communities. The post holder will provide professional clinical leadership, supervision and advice to the team and support with the day to day management of the service.

As the Co-lead Practitioner for Respiratory Service, you will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary team in Gloucestershire, acting as a resource to other medical, nursing, therapy staff and voluntary agencies both internal to GHC and our acute colleagues.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities and duties:

Clinical responsibilities will depend on the post holders experience and registered qualification, but you can work in the following areas and develop skills within:

Home oxygen assessment service

Pulmonary rehabilitation

Respiratory Physiotherapy (Breathing patterns and airway clearance)

CORE (assessment and treatment of patients with respiratory disease)

Non-clinical responsibilities include but not limited to:

Provide clinical expertise to the MDT (OT, physio, RN, therapy assistants) to support effective management of patients with chronic lung disease including: COPD, asthma, bronchiectasis and ILD

To participate in MDT meetings, teaching and clinical supervision to staff and the wider network

To provide clinical leadership, supervision & line management to the team

To have strong oversight of service operations including: clinical audit, risk and safety, workforce and service performance data (including waiting times)

Build and strengthen relationships with partner organisations, secondary care, primary care and the voluntary sector

To contribute with the co-clinical lead in respiratory pathway development and to key work streams across ICS.

To implement and monitor effective processes and procedures delivering service development and delivery of key projects or quality improvement plans

To promote a culture of positive change behaviours

Job responsibilities

Provide specialist expertise and support to both the Clinical Lead and the wider MDT on the delivery and continual improvement of Pulmonary Rehabilitation for patients in line with Royal College of Physicians Pulmonary rehabilitation services accreditation standards and core components.

Be responsible for joint leadership and line management of staff within the Community Respiratory Team

Provide clinical supervision to the clinical team and contribute to the identification of objectives and training needs as part of the annual personal development reviews. Ensure clinicians receive the necessary training and opportunities to allow for optimal service delivery.

Coordinates Multidisciplinary activities monitors caseloads and activity and ensure safe workloads.

Act as a role model creating an environment that is responsive to change, encouraging innovation in practice and flexible approaches to the development and modernisation of pulmonary rehabilitation provision accordingly.

Qualification

Essential

  • Registered Nurse (NMC) or Physiotherapist (HCPC), Professional Registration Evidenced


Desirable

  • QUALIFICATIONS
  • Masters level qualification in relevant area
  • Non-medical prescriber


LENGTH AND / OR NATURE OF EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Evidence within CV of considerable experience in working with patients with Chronic Respiratory Diseases


LENGTH AND / OR NATURE OF EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Significant experience in managing teams and individuals


Desirable

  • Experience of working in the community


PROFESSIONAL / MANAGERIAL / SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Post graduate learning in Respiratory field
  • Secure knowledge of best practice guidelines
  • Experience of audit and research
