A vacancy has arisen for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist within the Children's Community Learning Disability Team. The Children's Learning Disability Team is part of the all age learning disability service. We work closely with families, education, social care colleagues, respite services, advocacy and community services.
Our children's learning disability service is commissioned to support children and young people up to the age of 18. We are a multi-disciplinary team of nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists, and nursery nurses. We support families with sleep difficulties, self-care tasks, understanding their child's sensory needs and supporting engagement through meaningful activity. This may be through parent workshops or working directly with young people and their families. We provide specialist assessments to understand a young person's needs and work together to support these, including individual or group based approaches.
Main duties of the job
We support a seamless transition to the adult learning disability service following our transition pathway. We assist people to access mainstream health and mental health services supporting reasonable adjustments to allow young people with a learning disability to access them.
We work Monday to Friday between the core hours of 9am until 5pm, with some flexibility required on occasion to meet individual need and preferences.
About us
Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.
The Trust also provides a range of physical health and well-being services in the community alongside a range of partners in the Lancashire, Cumbria and Sefton area.
Lancashire & South Cumbria Foundation Trust encourages flexible working, we believe that a positive work/life balance benefits NHS employees through improved health and wellbeing. We would consider working patterns such as term time, part time, compressed hours, flexi-time and career breaks. We encourage applicants to state clearly on their application forms this request and discuss these options at interview.
