We are looking for an experienced enthusiastic Service Manager to lead our Memory Assessment & Management County Wide Service in Lincolnshire. This will be a new service supporting the population of Lincolnshire whom are experiencing problems with their memory and/or other cognitive difficulties such as with language or attention and/or personality/behaviour changes.

Main duties of the job

You will work alongside others to ensure quality, people, finance & performance are well managed and led.

You will be responsible for the continued development of the service and the link in with key stakeholders to ensure a system approach is taken to meet the needs of the local population.

Job responsibilities

To take responsibility for the operational management and leadership of the Memory Assessment & Management Services in Older People & Frailty Division.

To provide leadership that ensures local service development and delivery in designated areas of responsibility reflects national policy, priorities, and best practice.

To lead and assist in the continuous improvement of services through close working relationship with quality improvement and assurance lead in the division.

To contribute to the planning, implementation and monitoring of the Trust and Divisional service plans.

To be responsible for the operational management and leadership of the services within designated area of responsibility.

To be responsible for ensuring that the services within designated area of responsibility deliver high quality, safe and supportive care to service users and their families.

To be responsible for ensuring that all staff operate within mental health legislation.

To be responsible for the management and control of designated budgets ensuring the effective use of finances and staffing resource.

To be responsible for identifying financial pressures, cost improvements and effective use of resources within designated area of responsibility.

To ensure that all staff are aware of policies, procedures and protocols and work within their framework.

To manage HR issues in conjunction with the Team Co-Ordinators and HR and take remedial action where necessary.

To manage complex professional/clinical competency and capability issues and take responsibility for implementation of any resultant actions for the individual or service.

To lead on recruitment & retention of staff within designated area of responsibility.

To participate on the Silver or tactical on call rota.

To liaise with stakeholders to continue to develop the service

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Relevant professional qualification
  • Management training or proven ability to manage a team.
  • Evidence of continued professional development at degree level or equivalent experience.


Desirable

  • Education to master's level (or equivalent) in relevant area
  • Management / leadership qualification
  • Other relevant clinical qualification


Experience

Essential

  • Experience of implementing significant changes in working practices
  • At least two years experience using a range of leadership and management skills in a management role within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Sound knowledge of current issues in the care of Older People with mental health problems
  • Experience of assessment and casework which meets the needs of people within the older people & frailty function and dementia pathway who require support and treatment in the community and ability to engage a team to implement this in a systematic way.
  • Evidence of a flexible and sensitive approach to care and service provision
  • Working knowledge of all relevant legislation associated with mental health care, including MHA, Community Care Act, CPA and Human Rights Act and Continuing Care and Decision Support Tool processes
  • Working knowledge and understanding of role of Social Care and relationship with health
