Clinical Specialist Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist, Band 6

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team in delivering Speech and Language Therapy to children and young people with a range of speech, language and communication needs (SLCN).

The post holder will work with children with a range of SLC needs within a range of locations including community clinic, mainstream schools, pre-school settings and home visits.

The post holder will work closely with parents, teaching staff and other allied health professionals to provide a coordinated service to the children/young people in all settings

Hours per week: 22.5

Open to flexible working options.

This post is fixed term for 9 months.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have sound knowledge and experience in assessing, evaluating and delivering evidence based interventions for SLCN such as, language delay, DLD, social communication needs and speech sound disorders.

The post holder will have experience of multi-disciplinary working and delivering training packages to a range of professionals.

The post holder will be an integral part of a supportive team where training and personal development is encouraged.

Qualifications

Essential

  • HCPC (Health and Care Professional Council) registration
  • Relevant professional degree / diploma
  • Clinical educators training


Desirable

  • Membership of a relevant professional body


Knowledge

Essential

  • Post registration knowledge which is relevant to the specialist area and evidenced by CPD (Continuing Professional Development)
  • Knowledge of recent NHS legislation
  • Knowledge of the Code of Practice and key education legislation and guidance
  • Awareness of the national and local priorities and changing trends in specialist area


Desirable

  • Knowledge of the service / trust values & objectives


Skills

Essential

  • Ability to lead junior colleagues
  • Advanced communication and listening skills
