Main duties of the job

We are seeking an experienced Senior Emergency Nurse who is innovative, enthusiastic and self-motivated, with proven facilitation and effective leadership qualities within Emergency Nursing to lead and develop our new education team where learning, improvement and excellence will continue to thrive to another level amongst our forever hardworking team.

As our Practice Educator Lead Nurse, you and your team will support the Matron in delivering training and education across our large team of over 100 nurses, health care support workers, students and progressing health care professionals. You will coach, supervise and support the nursing clinical team both at the point of care and theoretically, whereby you will be not only lead and co-ordinate all learning but will actively participate in delivering an exceptionally high standard of nurse education to our nursing and wider workforce. We recognise that education and effective leadership positively influence the quality of patient care therefore working in collaboration with colleagues, you will lead to develop and implement a brand defining, innovative, bespoke Emergency Nursing Education Strategy aligned to departmental, organisational, regulatory and governance requirements.

Experience

Essential

  • Relevant experience onBand 6 or above in an Emergency nursing environment
  • Leadership Experience
  • Line Management Experience
  • Can demonstrate a high level of clinical practice
  • Respond to incident forms and participate in action planning in response To improving practice and reduce risk
  • Exposure to and involvement with a range of learners.
  • Team building experience and ability to work well within a multi- disciplinary team
  • Proven experience of training and assessment of learners of all levels in both the clinical area and relevant learning environments.
  • Key Trainer/ Train the Trainer experience in relevant skills
  • The management of change in relation to clinical practice
  • Experience of clinical audit/research activity
  • Experience of design and delivery of simulation training
  • Formal teaching experience in the clinical or academic setting
  • Participates as an established faculty member in a teaching environment relevant to Emergency Nursing
  • Write action plans in response to incidents or identified risk


Desirable

  • Involved in Magnet 4 Europe within the Department and participates in the unit council's improvement work
  • Experience of Practice Education / Lecturing related to Nursing

Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding of what the BTHFT Nursing and Midwifery Strategy means to you and how you filter this to your teams.
  • Understanding of what the NHS Constitution means to you, and your responsibilities to the public, patients and colleagues.
  • Demonstrate in-depth understanding of current issues in healthcare
  • Understand vocational styles of training within the trust
  • Understand different learning styles and ability to adapt teaching style to reflect this.
  • Change management models and application into practice


Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse
  • Health related degree or equivalent qualification and / or experience
  • Studied at Masters Level either module and / or obtained MSc
  • Qualified Assessor Supervisor/Supporting Learners in Practice or equivalent
  • Vocational assessor award
  • Post registration Emergency Nursing related qualification
  • Hold a recognized credible Leadership qualification / module
  • Evidence of relevant continuous professional development
  • Post Registration Emergency Nursing related qualifications at Masters level
  • Completion of relevant Faculty of Emergency Nursing qualifications
  • Full compliance of all mandatory training in line with trust expectations and contract
