Breast Care Nurse - Nightingale Centre
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Specialist Breast Care Nursing team full time 37.5hrs, 12 month fixed term period. We are based at The Nightingale and Prevent Breast Unit it is Europe's first purpose built breast cancer prevention and treatment facility and is a leading Breast cancer institute with a national and international reputation.
The Nightingale breastunit houses several key services that facilitate a fully integrated 'one stop' diagnostic pathway, providing a comprehensive screening, diagnostic, staging and treatment service for all patients with breast cancers. The service aims to provide a high quality, safe and supportive environment in order to care for patients diagnosed with breast cancer or benign disease, and aims to meet identified physical and psychosocial needs.We also provide a comprehensive and state-of-the-art breast reconstruction service.
Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Manchester University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) for a Breast Care nurse. The post holder will be expected to provide knowledge and support to patients diagnosed with breast cancer as well as their families in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team and in line with local and national targets. Working alongside the existing Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialist team the post holder will act as key worker, carrying a clinical caseload. Excellent communication skills will ensure the post holder will be able to act as patient advocate whilst liaising with all members of the multidisciplinary team members when dealing with patients with complex issues. The specialist Breast Service at The Nightingale Unit is a screening and symptomatic service providing a full range of assessment investigations and treatment modalities for patients diagnosed with both benign and malignant breast disease. Our aim is to provide an excellent standard of care using specialist knowledge from the time of diagnosis and throughout the treatment trajectory.
