1.0 WTE Band 6 Renal Specialist Dietitian (Permanent, part time also considered)

We are delighted to be recruiting for a dietitian to join our experienced and supportive team of renal dietitians. We welcome any self-motivated enthusiastic dietitian who is looking to advance their career within a specialist field or a Band 6 dietitian looking to try another speciality, working with patients who have renal conditions.
The role would involve providing inpatient cover to the renal wards at GHNHSFT and outpatient work which includes seeing patient in clinics, haemodialysis centres and patients on peritoneal dialysis. We are an integral and valued part of the renal MDT, working with specialist nurses, pharmacists, psychologists and consultants. The majority of work is based in Gloucester but may involve travel to Cheltenham or community-based clinics. There is up to 1.0 wte available but we would consider part-time flexible working.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide complex dietetic care to renal patients in a variety of settings. You will require excellent interpersonal skills including observation and active listening skills alongside excellent verbal communication skills. You will work closely with the renal MDT, needing to work as part of a team and liaise with professionals at all levels. The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated and flexible to prioritise your own workload and be assertive in your time management.
The role provides opportunities to develop dietetic skills in a specialist area, working with a very experienced and dynamic team of renal dietitians. We encourage and support audit, research and contribution to service development within the dietetic department and the renal service. You would also be involved in supervising staff and students. Some travel may be required.

We are a large friendly department based on 2 sites Cheltenham General Hospital (CGH) & Gloucestershire Royal Hospital (GRH).The team is also made up of the Home Enteral Feeding Team (HEFT).
Within the department at GRH we have a team of Acute Dietitians, Paediatric Dietitians and a Home Enteral Feed Team. At CGH we have a team of Oncology Dietitians as well as the Acute team. We also have a Nutrition Support Team, a Specialist Gastroenterology Team and Specialist Diabetes Dietitians working on both hospital sites. Our teams include dietitians, dietetic support workers, dietetic assistants and nurses.
We are committed to continual professional development and support audit and quality improvement projects.

You will be directly responsible to the GRH Dietetic Service Lead, working alongside the renal team leads and the rest of the renal dietetic team.
You will be working to plan, implement and monitor high quality nutritional care to patients with complex renal needs in the inpatient and outpatient settings, including dialysis units.
