0-19 (Health visiting and School Nursing) operational lead - Bracknell Forest

Are you an experienced health visitor or school nurse looking for an opportunity to further your career? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 0-19 operational team lead based in Bracknell Forest providing highly visible, professional leadership, management and expertise to both the health visiting and school nursing teams.

You will need to be able to evidence a strong interest and passion for ensuring the service is accessible for all. You need to be a good team player, demonstrating strong leadership skills requiring excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with service users and a range of other agencies and professionals. You will be working closely with other Children's Service Leads pan Berkshire, in the development and implementation of organisational strategies, policies and practices that meet Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and national Health Visiting standards.

Main duties of the job

  • To be a proactive member of the 0-19 management team to ensure that best practice and learning is disseminated across the workforce quickly and effectively.
  • Lead on workforce planning and recruitment alongside the service lead, demonstrating an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the uniqueness of the locality.
  • Ensure the development of the workforce, promoting a culture of lifelong learning, reflective practice and personal development.
  • Take responsibility for the service activity performance identifying potential risks and initiating action plans to minimise these.
  • To lead by example, displaying a coaching style of leadership that mirrors the ethos and core values of the organisation which inspires and empowers staff.
  • To act independently and on own initiative, setting a professional and positive example and encourages all team members to be innovative and adopt a problem-solving approach.
  • Enable and empower all team members to take responsibility for service improvement by developing a culture of innovation and participation in the development of the service and service redesign.

    Essential

    • Registered Nurse/Midwife/RMN
    • Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visiting or School Nursing)
    • Evidence of continued professional development


    Desirable

    • Management training


    Previous Experience

    Essential

    • Experience of working in an environment with high standards of governance and accountability
    • Evidence of contribution to clinical supervisory or mentoring of less experienced staff
    • Evidence of staff management

    • Evidence of leadership e.g. leading change in practice, change of systems and processes


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    Essential

    • Broad knowledge and understanding of current public health issues and a sound clinical knowledge of health visiting and school nursing practice
    • Able to provide expert clinical knowledge and opinion within Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and to partner organisations
    • Highly developed knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practice
    • Ability to form strong professional working relationships across organisational boundaries
    • Competent to use a range of IT systems and databases
    • Understanding of data in performance monitoring of services
    • Efficient, effective and diplomatic verbal and written communication skills
