An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join the Occupational Therapy team in Cardiff and Vale UHB based in the Children and Young People Service (CYP)
We are looking for an occupational therapist with an interest in working with Children and young people. You will be part of an established Occupational Team who are committed to supporting children and young people and there families to optimise occupational performance.
We are an innovative service and you will be involved in leading and supporting workshops to enable children and young people to adapt occupations and put in place strategies towards independence.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
To assess, plan, implement and evaluate Occupational Therapy interventions with autonomy in secondary care and community settings to include lone working e.g. children and young people's own home's and school.
To manage a defined caseload, using evidence based/client centered principles within community child health.
To work in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team and with voluntary organisations, local authority and other appropriate health and social care sectors to negotiate care provision across the primary/secondary care interface
To maintain clinical records in accordance with legal requirements and professional standards.
To participate in the induction, supervision and training/education of support staff and students in the work setting.

To work within the multi-disciplinary therapies team and provide occupational therapy assessment and intervention, as directed by the senior occupational therapist.
To provide occupational therapy advice to other disciplines to support episodes of care and co production within the patient pathway. To review evidence based and support practice development by engaging in audit and research activity as directed by the lead occupational therapist.
Cardiff and Vale are committed to supporting professional development and will support learning opportunities in line with the Pillars of Learning. Supervision will be provided by a Band 6 with support from the Band 7 team lead.
Opportunity will be provided for engagement in service improvement and continuing professional development is actively encouraged.
A commitment to collaborative working with the Multi Disciplinary Team is essential. We actively support the education of Occupational Therapy students within our service.
