We have an exciting opportunity for an accomplished, dynamic and self-motivated research nurse or practitioner to lead the GI Oncology research delivery team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. As a Research Team Leader you will play an integral role in the management and delivery of high quality research within oncology. The role offers a valuable opportunity to an experienced research professional who is keen to take on additional responsibilities in a supportive environment. You will work alongside other senior staff to lead a team of research delivery professionals in the management of a range of cancer studies.
The Team Leader should provide outstanding leadership and day to day management of their clinical research team in the delivery of high quality research. They will lead and support a team of research nurses, practitioners, and assistant research practitioners employed on a range of funding streams.
The team leader requires a sound knowledge of research and patient pathways to support the team in growing and delivering the portfolio. The successful candidate will be high profile and visible, leading by example. They will be excellent at engaging with new clinicians and will require outstanding communication skills to nurture and maintain key relationships within the Trust and with external stakeholders.
Interviews are expected to take place on Monday 12th August.
Main duties of the job
The post holder supports the aims of the Trust to improve the speed, quality, and integration of clinical research, through the successful delivery of clinical research in the NHS. The post holder is a recognised expert in one or more specialities and in the field of clinical research, providing advice, care and support to patients entering clinical trials. He/she will take responsibility for the planning, development and implementation of the clinical research portfolio that reflects the patient population, the work and interests of the local clinical teams. You will provide expert support to colleagues and staff through the research study process, from grant application, to feasibility, to clinical pathways, to study delivery. You will work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team and act as a professional role model, providing clinical care and teaching to staff researchers, research participants and patients. Under the overall direction of the Divisional Director of Research and the Lead Research Nurse/Divisional Research Manager, you will be responsible for the development and management of a large portfolio of studies, requiring you to develop strong and effective working relationships across speciality areas, divisions and organisations.
