An exciting opportunity has arisen for permanent, full-time position (Monday --Friday) as a Band 7 Safeguarding Adults Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Adult Safeguarding Team at University Hospitals Birmingham. The role is Trust-wide, but will have a focus on Birmingham Heartlands Hospital.
Safeguarding protects a citizen's health and wellbeing enabling them to live free from harm, abuse and neglect and is integral to providing high-quality health care (NHS England). Ensuring that our workforce is equipped to recognise and respond appropriately and proportionately to abuse and neglect is a key responsibility of this role.
Reporting to the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Adults, the post holder will act as clinical nurse specialist in safeguarding adults providing education, advice and support to clinical staff within the organisation in all matters relating to adult safeguarding.
They will assist the Named Nurse and Lead Nurse for Adult Safeguarding and the Director of Safeguarding and vulnerabilities in ensuring that the that the Trust can provide evidence of compliance, across defined sites and services, the Care Act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and other relevant safeguarding adult legislation, guidance and regulatory and contractual requirements in order to ensure the Trust provides safe effective and well led services which safeguard the vulnerable.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will develop and maintain relationships with internal and external partners in order to ensure effective and collaborative working practices ae in place to provide the best outcomes for patients
This includes
- supporting with the Trust Domestic Abuse Agenda, implementation of the Care Act and Prevent agenda
- data collections, audit, education and training in all aspects of safeguarding, identifying concerns and escalating appropriately
- supporting with the application of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
- provide site based leadership regarding safeguarding adults whilst working as part of a growing and cohesive team
It is essential that candidates are registered nurses with experience of working within the field of safeguarding
