The successful candidate with join a team of Paediatric Psychologists in the Psychological and Mental Health Services (PAMHS) at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). They will also be Consultant Clinical Psychologist in the new Children and Young People's Gender Service (London).

The post-holder will be part of a large team of clinical psychologists (Specialist Health Conditions Stream) at GOSH. This team provide a specialist paediatric psychology service to children and young people under the care of urology, endocrinology, dermatology, rheumatology, gastroenterology, and neurology.

The successful applicant will contribute to clinical leadership of the stream, working closely with the Consultant Clinical psychologist stream lead. Clinically, the post holder will be required to deliver highly specialist assessment, complex formulations and interventions - both individual and in groups. The role includes a mixture of inpatient and outpatient work and involves close working with medical MDTs. They will also be expected to provide consultation and training to staff teams at GOSH, including facilitating debriefs and reflective practice.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will also provide leadership to manage and plan the delivery of a highly specialist psychology and psychotherapy service within the NHS Children and Young People's Gender Service (London) alongside the clinical lead. They will personally provide expert clinical input, through the provision of highly specialist assessments, complex formulations and interventions. The post holder will supervise and manage a range of psychological professionals and play a key role in the ongoing development of interventions.

In both parts of the role the post holder will be responsible for the monitoring and implementation of professional standards in the practice of applied psychology in the service and the systematic and effective provision of professional supervision, governance, and quality of the service.

• Entry-level qualification in Applied Psychology (professional Doctorate, or combination of MSc plus PG Diploma level additional training) that has been accepted by the HCPC for purposes of professional registration. - Clinical psychologist: Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent
• Minimum 2:1 honours degree in Psychology
• Post- graduate doctoral level training in the field of clinical psychology
• Registered with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist
• Eligibility for Chartered Status and membership of the Division of Clinical Psychology
• Additional training beyond entry-level qualification in a specialised area of psychological practice (e.g. in an area of clinical practice relevant to the service CBT, DBT, Specialist assessment) through formal post-qualification training (PG Diploma or equivalent), OR a combination of specialist short courses and/or an evidenced portfolio of supervised practice-based learning in a specialist area of clinical practice, assessed by a BPS National Assessor and an experienced clinical supervisor to be of equal level to a Postgraduate Diploma or higher.

• Evidence of having worked as a clinical specialist under supervision in a clinical area relevant to Paediatric Psychology and CYP with Gender Diversity
• Experience of undertaking leadership roles
• Assessed significant experience of working at a highly specialist level and exercising autonomy as a qualified psychologist (or equivalent qualification)
• Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, in-patient an residential care settings
• Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment, both as a professionally qualified care co-ordinator and also within the context of a multi-disciplinary care plan
• Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision
• Experience of professional management and supervision of qualified and pre-qualified clinical psychologists
• Experience of the application of psychology in different cultural contexts
• Doctoral level knowledge of clinical psychology including highly developed knowledge of lifespan developmental psychology and two or more distinct psychological therapies.
• A high level ability to communicate effectively at both a written and oral level complex, highly technical and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and a wide range of lay and professional persons within and outside the NHS.
