Operational Lead Radiographer - Cardiac Cath Labs - Band 8a

Are you a dynamic, enthusiastic, experienced Cardiac Catheter Lab Radiographer looking for the opportunity to lead a friendly, hard-working, ambitious and highly skilled team of Cardiac Radiographers within Cardiac Cath labs?

If so, joining the Barts Heart Centre Radiography department may be the correct move for you. We are currently seeking an Operational Lead Radiographer for Cardiac Cath Labs. This full time role involves day-to-day coordination of the labs and staffing provision, including both managerial and clinical duties, with participation in the departmental out of hours emergency on call service provision.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate would hold a fundamental role within the Bart's Heart Centre senior team, working closely with the Cath Lab Manager, Nursing Matron, Principal Physiologists and Consultant Cardiologists as well as the Barts Trust leadership and management team and key stakeholders reporting and advising on service demands and delivery. You will be expected to work in conjunction with the Operational Lead Radiographer for CT & CMR, and deputise for the Head of Radiography in their absence.

Barts Heart Centre boasts a wealth of state-of-the-art equipment, with ten Cardiac Catheter Labs, three dedicated Cardiac MRI scanners, and a dedicated Cardiac CT scanner, with plans for future expansion. We are proud to lead the way in world-first procedures and undertake a large amount of ground-breaking research and live broadcasting of cases for educational meetings and congresses, with plenty of opportunities to get involved. We support and encourage our Radiographers to be involved in publishing research and representing us at conferences both in the UK and around the World.

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc or Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography
  • HCPC State Registration
  • Evidence of post registration study and CPD


Desirable

  • Post Graduate qualification (professional or managerial) at MSc / PG Dip level, or equivalent


Experience

Essential

  • Understanding of relevant legislation, national standards and professional guidelines
  • Evidence of appropriate Continuous Professional Development
  • Evidence of leadership experience
  • Clinical experience in a wide range of imaging modalities
  • Extensive experience in cardiac imaging
  • Experience of implementing change and leading service development initiatives
  • Teaching and training experience in cardiac Cath lab radiography
  • Proven mentor experience - with positive outcomes.
  • Appraisal experience with Radiographic staff.
  • Experience of supervising and managing staff


Desirable

  • Post registration qualification either professional or managerial at MSc/PG Dip level, or equivalent
  • Evidence of operational management experience
  • Experience of working in a PFI setting and managed equipment services
  • Experience of purchasing and commissioning new equipment
  • Experience in budget responsibility
  • Experience in perusing innovation and role development in Cardiac radiography
  • Experience in more than one hospital
  • Evidence of experience of first line management


Knowledge

  • Expert clinical knowledge in one or more specialist cardiac imaging modalities
  • Working knowledge of responsibilities relating to ionising radiation regulations
  • Knowledge of HR and Finance business functions

  • Working knowledge of clinical coding and commissioning
  • Working knowledge of quality management and service accreditation
  • Knowledge of Project Management processes

  • Requirement to work full time (37.5hrs), 4 x 9.5hr shifts, with 1 rota'd day off per week
  • Requirement to work some late duties, participate in the out of hours on call rota and weekend waiting list initiatives as required. (Must live within 1 hr response time of site for on call service)
  • Requirement to be able to manage own workload and diary.
  • Sufficient to perform the duties of the post with any aids and adaptions
