The purpose of this post is to work as part of a multi-disciplinary Early Intervention Team providing care co-ordination and intervention to those identified as having an at risk mental state or being in the early phase of a psychotic illness. To support the assessment of needs and delivery of interventions in line with currently identified best practice within early intervention work. To play an active role in service development supporting the team as we move towards implementing the early intervention team in psychosis access and waiting time standard.
Main duties of the job
Role Summary:
To participate in the provision of a high quality care. This will involve assessing, supporting, monitoring of the service users who are experiencing 1stepisode psychosis and those who are suspected of developing psychosis. It will involve you're working in a variety of community settings it will include your liaising and co working with other services both statutory and non statutory. It will involve you're working with carers and families of service users and will involve seeing service users families and carers in their own homes, clinics or in other environments such as hostels, supported living, residential and nursing homes.
Key Responsibilities of the Post:
Work with clients who have suspected psychosis or who are presenting with a psychotic illness, undertake assessments including risk and specialist assessments such as SCI-Panns and CAARMS. Plan Monitor and Review Care Packages
Offer a range of psychosocial interventions including family interventions
Key Requirements of the Person Specification:
Good interpersonal and observational skills o Understanding of the problems associated with psychosis. o Good communicator and ability to develop rapport with people. o Ability to work within a team, flexibility, patience and reliable o Have full driving licence and use of a car or access to a car be able to take passengers/clients in car o Understanding of the impact of mental and physical health problems on a persons overall well being.

- R.M.N. / RNMH/ DipSW /SROT

- Experience working with clients with serious mental illness
- Experience of teamwork and effective communication at all levels.
- Ability to work independently in a community setting.
Desirable
- Experience in the use of psychosis-specific semi-structured interviews (e.g. PANSS CAARMS PSYRATS).
- Experience working with clients with serious mental illness within an Early Intervention Psychosis Team
Knowledge

- Knowledge and skill in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the care of clients with serious mental illness under the supervision of a senior clinical practitioner.
