We are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated, organised and passionate individual to lead, manage, and support quality and safety within our Critical Care Unit. You will be a visible and driven individual who has a desire to drive and build on performance, and patient experience. You will be an excellent communicator and develop relationships. You will need a high level of resilience and have proven negotiation skills.
You will work as part of an established team with responsibility and accountability together with the other Matron. As a job share you will continue to enhance and sustain high standards and drive the service forward using a positive and proactive approach. You will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and the Matrons within the Surgical Division.
Main duties of the job
As part of the nursing lead for the service you will be influential in leading and managing the critical care team to ensure efficiency and safety, whilst promoting compassionate and supportive team working, team well-being together with a safe working environment and culture.

Corporate Responsibilities
With the Directorate Manager and Clinical Director have joint responsibility for ensuring that the CQC Quality and Safety outcomes are achieved within the Directorate
Work closely within the division to support the operational needs of the Hospital.
Line manage Band 7s and, Clinical Nurse Specialists within Critical Care and Pain service, whilst also role modelling caring and compassionate leadership.
Act as a Clinical Leader to ensure that staff are empowered and supported to take the nursing/midwifery agenda forward within the designated clinical areas
Lead on the infection prevention, control, cleanliness and environmental standards for the directorate
Act as a source of expert advice and support on nursing clinical and professional issues within the Directorate
Ensure that appropriate education, training and competency assessment is implemented for nursing so that high quality standards are consistently achieved, supporting practice development team with their role.
Ensure that any complaints are dealt with at first point of contact wherever possible and written complaints relating to Nursing are responded to in a timely manner
Work with the Associate Directors of Nursing or the Deputy Chief Nurse to lead the implementation of defined trust wide projects.
Represent the hospital within EMCCN (East Midlands Critical Care Network) , and work with the lead nurse to benchmark our services against other hospitals and GPICS (Guidelines for the Provision of Intensive Care services )
Supporting Patient Excellence
Responsible for ensuring that excellent standards of care are achieved in the designated clinical areas as evidenced through Nursing/Midwifery dashboards
Monitor and support the Quality Improvement work associated with the Trust Assessment and Accreditation framework
Ensure that standards of care within clinical areas are maintained at a high standard in accordance with CQC, National and Trust Standards
Jointly responsible with the Directorate Manager and Clinical Director for patient safety and quality outcomes within the designated clinical areas
Work with Practice and Professional Development colleagues to ensure the development of nursing practice is evidence based, in response to service need and consistent with local, national and trust-wide nursing policies, procedures and guidelines
Support the development of and participate in relevant audit activity in the clinical setting and respond to results by formulating action plans and leading changes where necessary
Develop the provision and co-ordination of quality patient care through quality improvement processes that make the best use of the resources available and in accordance with national and local strategies
Jointly responsible for leading the implementation of systems that capture outcomes for assurance purposes (KPIs)
Provide highly specialist advice and training that may include the performance of clinical interventions in a ward environment
