We are currently recruiting for three full-time positions for LD Nurses to work within our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service. In this rewarding role, you will have the opportunity to provide specialized care and support to children and young people with learning disabilities, ensuring they receive the highest standard of mental health care.

1 WTE based in Cheshire West & Chester Based services

1 WTE based in Cheshire East services

1 WTE based within Cheshire wide Access services

  • The post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary community 0-18 / access CYPMH Team, and will be expected to work autonomously, managing a defined case load of 0-18-year-olds with mild / moderate Learning Disabilities and challenging behaviour.
  • Management of a small clinical case load within the 0-18 teams.
  • To support 0-18 CYPMH colleagues with PBS consultation, PBS working.
  • Support SEND thinking and SEND awareness within the 0-18 / access teams

The community LD Nurses working in 0-18 / Access together supporting SEND and lead on PBS thinking and working in West, East and Access areas

Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

  • Ability to assess/plan/evaluate care to clients and parents or carers
  • Ability to participate in and develop nursing practice
  • Support clients in crisis
  • Excellent record keeping
  • Ability to chair meetings and lead a team meeting
  • Deliver training to other professionals and services.
  • Learning disability and child related policy
  • Current best practice in learning disability nursing
  • Safeguarding children
  • NHS policy/ practice e.g. health improvement/public health agenda


Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with children with Severe Learning Disabilities and challenging behaviour and or mental health problems and their families/ carers
  • Experience in working in a behavioural service, experience of a positive behaviour support model
  • Delivering training/parenting courses and presentations
  • Multi-agency/ professional working
  • Clinical supervision of staff
  • Positive attitude to young people with Learning Disabilities
  • Awareness of relevant legislation and good practice relating to young people with Learning Disabilities (Valuing People)
  • Appreciation of governance
