The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner following professional codes of conduct and ethics carrying a varied specialist caseload in a specialist area of practice which will include patients with complex needs.

Clinical activities can take place in a wide range of settings including hospital, community settings, and patients own homes.

The post holder will provide supervision to Occupational Therapy staff and students and in addition may provide supervision or guidance and support to support workers from another discipline. The post holder will support the learning and development of others including colleagues and peers.

The post holder will contribute to and lead some areas of service development duties within their department which can include attending meetings and leading in audit, evidence based practice research and service evaluation.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for confident and competent Band 6 occupational therapists to work as part of the adult mental health Occupational Therapy service , delivering client centred and specialist, occupationally focused assessments and interventions to adults with mental illness as part of the multidisciplinary team.

The adult mental health Occupational Therapy service endeavours to support the patient recovery journey across the service pathway from crisis, through to admission and community services, supporting self-management and functional independence. The successful candidate will become part of a proactive mental health Occupational Therapy team who work together to develop clinical skills and effectiveness across adult and older adult mental health pathway. The Occupational Therapy service is committed to lifelong learning and evidenced based practice. All staff receive support and encouragement to utilise continuing professional development (CPD) to maintain a CPD portfolio.

• Attended short courses or equivalent CPD relevant to speciality area at Post graduate level or equivalent.
