Are you a Healthcare Scientist or Practitioner in Neurophysiology?Applications are invited for the position of a Band 6 Healthcare Science Practitioner or a Band 7 Healthcare Scientist to join our friendly team in the Neurophysiology Department at the NNUH. The ideal candidate should be confident, organised, have good people skills, work confidentially within a team & have the ability to use their initiative.
The NNUH is an academic teaching hospital located in the Science Park to the south of Norwich city centre. The hospital is located within easy reach of the Norwich Research Park & the University of East Anglia & we are building many academic links & opportunities. The hospital is only 23 years old & the Neurophysiology Department is fortunate to have enviable resources. The team comprises of 7 Science Scientists, 3 Consultants & a Registrar in Clinical Neurophysiology, along with 3 administrative staff. We typically see around 5500 patients a year.
Our department performs a full modality of Neurophysiological investigations, including EEG's (routine, sleep, portable, ambulatory & Telemetry, all with video), Nerve Conduction Studies (for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Ulnar Neuropathy & Peripheral Neuropathy), Evoked Potentials (VEP, ERG (pattern and flash), EOG (all visual testing is to ISCEV standard) and SEP) & Intra Operative Monitoring for Orthopaedic Spinal Surgery.

Main duties of the job
The job role at band 6 or 7 include performing all routine investigations EEG's, NCS for CTS and VEP's on patients of all ages and abilities. Both roles also involve contribution to the day to day running of the department and training of the junior members of the team. If the successful candidate is employed into the Healthcare Scientist position (at band 7) the job roll also incorporates performing our specialist investigations (Ambulatory EEG, Telemetry, ERG, EOG and IOM). If the successful applicant is employed into the Science Practitioner position there will be the objective to train them so they become proficient in these specialist investigations, with a view to them working towards the position of Healthcare Scientist. This position is open to all qualified individuals, whether experienced or newly qualified.

- BSc (Hons) Clinical Physiology (Neurophysiology) or STP MSc in Clinical Science or Post Graduate Certificate in Neurophysiology or equivalent formal specialist training (e.g., BTEC HNC in MPPM) or equivalent experience and professional exams (e.g. ANS EEG and ANS NCS & EP, or equivalents) or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- AHCS registration (or requirement to register within 8 months of starting in post)
- Knowledge of specialist procedures acquired through specialist courses or training/experience equivalent to postgraduate level
